The Soviet Consulates throughout Ch .n a have been ordered to .gaff all Soviets
dthout a visible means of support on or about 1 January 1947. and to return
these so-called draftees to the Soviet Union. One of the reasons advanced for
this action is to get the young Russian men who are good military prospects
into Russia where they can be drafted into the Red A ,y by force.

Czechoslovaks in China are being repatriated through Russia on the "Ssno1ny".
The fare to Vladivostok is U.S. $70.00 per person; from Vladivostok to
Moscow the fare is about U.S. $300.00 per person; from 17oscow these repatriates
will be sent h:w:.,q at an approximate rate of U.S.:,.150.OU per person.
2. soviet Repatriation
The group of eighteen Soviet boys who were to have de ?ted in August have now
been promised that they will be sent back to the Soviet Union on the next ship.
They have been informed, however, that upon their return to the Soviet Union they
may have to ti-rork for one year in Vladivostok and be sent to school later in the
year If the opportunity presents itself. The group of fifteen who left Shanghai
