SUPPLEMENT
Tientsin Soviet Consu -General . urdiukov recently received a directive from the
Soviet Government requesting him to prepare for the repatriation of all Soviet
citizens between the ape of 1? and 35 in Tientsin and vicinity. The r -
petriation is to take place in March 1947. Since the receipt of the directive
several lengthy discussions have been held in the Consulate regarding problems
anticipated in carrying out this mission.
2. Any announcement or enforcement of a repatriation program is expected to be
met with disapproval and to instigate a whalesa1 renunciation of Soviet
citizenship. Some renunciation has already begun as a result of the arrest
of several Soviet citizens by Chinese authorities on charges of collaboration
with the Japanese.
