and the better traneport facilities, great efforts are being made througheut
the Rueeiae Zone further to increase production and to reopen mines which keve
been closed downe

These Kontore are organs of the German Central Administreeiion for Fuel
Industry. The total assets of the former syndicates will be handed over to
tne Kantor?, which, however, do not become the legal successors of the coal
syndicates.
In Weimar the Thueringische Kohlen Kontor G.m.b.11, has been formed with a
chars capital of 20,000,000 RU. Its function, is to be the purchasine, salon,
ana distributing organization for coal products insofar as these are ree
ouirea for consumption in Thuringia.
7. e.. The A.O. Wichischewerke near Leipzig transforms brown coal into briquettes.
The coal is mined in open coal pits end has to be tranenorted OAC mile to the
factory. The present average monthly eroduction of briquettes is about 35,000
tons.
b. The distillery transforms brown coal into tar, medium, light oils and
coke in 24 furnaces. The tar and oils are further transformed by hydroenatien into gasoline by the Brabag,
C. A special installation producos sulphur from the diitillation gases,
ehich ie used in the cellulose industry.
d. The gee works which were completed in 1940 produce a monthly average of
6.6 million Cubic meters of first class gas from brocen coal.
C. The power station (4th largest in Germany) produteu en average of about
47 millionrdet (:)x? month. Current is sent as far as Berlin and Bavaria.
