Approved For Release 1199/09/08 : QIA-RDP82-- 41 000300510006-0 crrnr~ iWr.~iTFD CENTRAL I LLrrE CE GROUP INTELLIGENCE REPORT C PTW Denmark SUBJECT F1shing Cutters 25X1A6a ORIGIN 25X1X6 25X1A2g DATE: 25X1 X6 INFO. DST. L `ebeiuaT 1947 PAGES SUPPLEMENT on 1?3 October 1916 n ropapers reported that some fishing cutters were to be sold to Uruguay. Tlra concerned were the EVA MACH and the PIW WG, both of about forty tons Dever, when the HEMMING ran aground and was badly damaged at the end of October or begitming of November, it was. decided that the cutter 1N UE PtILTZ should replace her. 2. The cutters were to be sold through Mr. Otto L. E. Danielsen, owner of an office where tonnage is sold atNy Toldbodgade 5 (presumably in Copenhagen). The Uruguay Goverment was to pay 2140,000 Kr. for each cutter and the entire am was to be paid to the National. Bank of Dermmai t in American dollars. T Danish crow that were to sail the cutters to South America were to be paid about 40,000 Kr. 14. The Danish authorities thought it likely that unauthorized persons would attempt to use these cutters as a means to escape to South America. The matter was turned over to the criminal police of Esbjerg. The police handled the affairs in such a way that the crews learned of the suspicion that existed. The authorities were very strict in their examination of everything concerning the cutters and the day of departure was postponed more than once. On 30 November the British Naval Attache was informed that the cutters were schedul' i to leave Esbjerg on 1 December. Security matters relating to the crews prevented the departure, however. The cutters still remain at Esbjerg. 5. About 7 December newspapers reported erroneously that the cutters had left Esbjerg about 1 December and that they were to be stopped in the Channel by the British and subjected to a thorough search. 6. According to the latest avaf1able Information, the cutters :ire not to be sold to Uruguay. The Russians are very much interested in them.
