SUBJECT Defenses Along the Mecklenburg Coast and on
the Oder River

1. Coastal defenses observed along the Mecklenburg littoral are as follows}a
a. C rig feet Infantry guns of approximately 150mm caliber,
number unascertained, were observed in the area. They appeared
to be without troop units.
b. M rkera g e, . Thirty'-eight long barreled, approximately
120mm antitank guns, fourteen of which were located in the
sand dunes and pointing out to sea, were observed in the
vicinity of this town.
c. 'trwi Three units of heavy artillery guns of at least 150mm
caliber are located on Fischland Peninsula;
i. one unit southwest of Wustrow;
ii. One unit between Nustrow and Althagen;
iii. One unit in Althagen in the former Wehrmacht emplace-
ments which were originally demolished and have been
rebuilt.

2, The felling of trees and preparations for construction of emergency bunkers
were observed all along the coast.
3. A recruiting campaign for "Aktion Oderregulisrung", which is possibly a
cover-name for the construction of an Eastern Wall, is being conducted
in Mecklenburg on orders of the Soviet Komendatura. Underground workers
are particularly required. The Kasche firm in G6strow (T-98) has had to
send its six concrete specialists, together with the firm's transport
and all of its concrete mixers, to the Oder Estuary area.
