SUPPLEMENT
1. Fadil Ghandur of Tripoli, Lebanon., worked with the Germans in xggling
25X1 X6 = opera..: ions during the war. His brothers Nazim Gharadur, now living in Mersin,,
Turkey.. was associated with him. Both men were arrested by the British and were
imprisoned during the war at Miah Miah and Masha y*a0
2. Fadil Ghandur is toda:r reported to be conducting a trading business with
25X1 X6 = Bulgaria. His saiu-boats go to Varna and bring back cargoes of wood and leather.
He exports arms and munitions from Lebanon, consigned to Bulgarian Communists
who in turn send them to Ireek Conmi, nri.sts, according to report.
3. information in Lebene a security circles is reported to be that such arms
25X1 X6 _ as a : for sale los aL .y (the number is limited and the price is high) are
thought to be moving in n &-mall quantities to Arabs in Palestine. Therefore$,
it is felt that the, number of s which might be taken to Bulgaria could
not be very great,, and probably would represent a purely private speculation,
if the above report wore at all i r'ue:5
4. Sources In Tripoli were unable to confirm or to disprove the report on
25X1X6 fihandur's activities, but the following information upon him is added:
(a) .Fads. Ghandur is a wealthy Tripolitanian front the Mina Quarter.
He owns a number of sailboats and, in addition,, a large warehouse
in the Mina carter and a large building in City Square0 He deals
mainly in wood, and is perhaps the leading importer of wood to
Tripoli; much of it comes from ` arkey,, not from Bulgaria.
(b) Until about sax months ago, he used to import arms and aammueition
from Turkey. fin, however, the French began to damp their material
into the Tripoli tanian =rket, the local price of arms !come down,
and this trade with Turkey ceased.,
5. It is reported that Tripoli is currently the clearing place and storage
25X1X6=, depot for arms destined for Palestine. According to reliable information
lers ship arms in the gasoline and fuel tank trucks of the Soooz y Vacuum
25X1 X8 Compaq moving in and out of the Tripoli ref l.nery, and guns are placed
the tanks them selves, with the connivance of Syrian and Lebanese drivers,
