DST M2 ay 1947 PACES I SUPPLEMENT 11 Unlike its counterparts in Shanghai and Tientsin where two branches of Soviet youth organizations called "Kim" and "Pioneer" are sponsored, the Taingtao Soviet Association has a single Youth Group composed of youth from the ages of fourteen to twenty-one. Membership is voluntary. Certain older Soviet citizens are active members while others act as advisors and leaders. This group,, although officially a part of the Association, actually has its own funds, meetings, and activities, and can be considered almost Independent. its membership includes most of the extremist elements of the Association; from the 1 uth Group are launched attacks against the older leaders of the Association such a Lolchits , Chaim of the Soviet Association. 2 Total membership of the Group is forty-sir., of which fourteen are girls and women. About twenty are quite active in the Group., while the interest of the others varies. In addition to the regUar business meetings,, of which at least one is held weekly, a 'Country Education" meeting is held every Friday, Ale, these gatherings., lectures and discussions are presented which deal with the USS the Communist 'arty, and Staling One or two social affairs are also held each month 31uriri g March, for example,, the Youth Group held six business meetings, four "Country Education" lectures, and two tea parties. 4 Funds for the Group are raised through various social affairs.
