The former German coal and ore mines at Bytom have seen placed under the
control of a Government Commissariat with headquarters in Katowice. The
mines are worked to a large extent by German POW's from the camp at Minsk.
Some six thousand German prisoners are working ten hours per day in the
Kastellengo pit.
