12. An artillery column. led by Lieutenant General Nyabov. Cornoonents were
one Guards Unit, led by Major General Kolesov, and a Guards Iortar,
cii; exopol Red Banner, Order of Suvorov, Order of Kutuzov, Order of
Aieksaad. Nevski Regiment, which participated in the liberation of
Rostov Don Basin, Simferopol, and Sevastopol. The equipment included
Xatyusha mortars and very powerful artillery. Each gun was so large
that three special tractors (Tyagach) were required for transoaortation
one for the barrel, one for the heavy -platform, and one for the breech.
13. A motorcycle battalion was awarded the title "fombitski`l for daring
raids in battle near Dembica, Poland,
14. A tank battalion, consisting of T-34 and IS tanks, under Hero of the
Soviet Union, Guards t?.ajor F. Gorenchuk. The unit was equipped with
self-=propelled runs, both light and heavy,,

Sudets. (Previously reported as Chief of Staff to ::arshal Vershininy
former commander of the 17th Air Army.) Large planes, under the leader-
ship of navigator Sterligov, were followed by bombers led by Lieutenant

General Kolomiitsev, fighter groups led by Colonel Sukhachev and
Lieutenant Colonel Galchenko, and fast aircraft led by Lieutenant Colonel

of Artillery on 19 November 1942, and Colonel General of Artillery on 18
September 1943. His awards include Order of Lenin twice - 8 October 1942
and 6 April 1945, Order of Kutuzov let Class - 9 February 1943, Order of

Participants includea Latvian Infantry, a naval Contingent from the Baltic
