SUPPLEMENT
A source close to Slav circles in Argentina reports the following informatio:.
,rning local Ukrainian Comunists:
M T of the local Ukrainian Communists are now harshly criticizing the Comma! .1st
?ederacion de Organizaciones de Ayuda a la Ueraxits. Sovietica (also known as
Comite de Ayuda a la Ucrania Sovietise.) because they claim that:
a. Only part of the funds collected were really spent on clothing and other
needed supr~lies;
2. The anti.-Cc iunist Comite Ucraniano de Ayuda a las Victimas de la Guerra (a1c
known as Comite Ucranio de Ayuda) , with headquarters at Calle Maza 150, Duet
Aires, has lately received Information from the Ukraine indicating that the
acc: isations concerning the distribution or aid supplies by the Soviet author?:.ties
a, based an facts.
b. The shipments made were sent to Moscow and not to the Ukraine; and
c- The small quantities of aid supplies which subsequently reached the
Ukraine were distributed among the leaders of the Ukrainian Communist Pa:, ,y.
The local Ukrainians, Communists or otherwise, would prefer some scheme thrc~:gh
which they could directly help their relatives abroad.
The local nationalist and anti-Connunist Ukrainian societies, Proevita and
Idrozdienie, are using this information to fan discontent against the Coma uzl.s~t
aid corm ttee, the Soviet Embassy, and the Soviet government,
Comceent: In connection with the discontent among local Ukrainian Ccw;-l `its,
It should be remembered that many were resentful of the treatment which they
received Prom the Soviet consular authorities when they requested new passports.
. s possible that some of this resentment still lingers, despite the recen~.?
g ?axting of. Soviet passports to some local Slavs. Dissatisfaction with the
a:~Wtnistration of aid to the Ukraine may accentuate this discontent.
