SUPPLEMENT
For the past several months the Communist Garrison at Chefoo has been pre--
paring the city against anticipated Nationalist landing and attz.?.': by the
construction of defense works and the placing of mines at stratei,ic locations.
Underwater mines have been laid at the eastern edge of the city size, or
exact location not given).. Large numbers of land mines 7 inchea highs
5 1/2 inches diameter, 30 kilograms weight, area effectiveness 34 meters in dia-
meters have been planted along the coast, in the hills and near :ertain important
locations within the city.
