S, On 21 3eptenber the Communists from Ilsintaimen and Lishukoumon (120-10, 40-40)
were joined by a Group from Liuchiatzu (120-16, 41-02) and surrounded Yangc~ ~Iachang -
tau, isolating the Nationalist 105 Brigade. Total Communist strength is al:proxiraate-
ly 15,000 troops, with elcmenns of the 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 Brigades iden-
tified.
9. AU :;.tionalict units: The iiew 22 Division, a regiment of the Tercporary 22 Division,
a regiment of the Temporary 18 Division plus a regiment of the Temporary 60 Division

to retreat. .rationalist air support enabled then to return to Chinhsi with few
casualties. The i-ationalists have set up a perimeter defense around Chinhsi.
