The change in designation does not, however, apply to members of the Peace
Preservation Corps Officers' School. known also as the Peace Preservation Staff
Officers' School or the People's Army, They are never referred to as members

the North Korean People's Comittee announced that all Kyo"ng Pi Tas (Constabu-
lary) organizations would henceforth be known as the Po An Tae (Peace Preser-
vation Corps)
The reason given by the North Korean authorities for the change in :}time was
that the term "K.y6ng Pi Tae" is used in reference to an army or army troops,
