1. New naval formations known as Coastal Defense Troops (Coastal
Infantry) have been noted along the entire Tugoslav coast. The
Yugoslav High Command places special value on these units. Sev-
eral of them are being trained in naval urine-.;Laying and the use
of explosives. There are detailed plans in 6oka Notorska fo3
the mining of the Otranto channel. Arsenals there are filled wJ h
mines of a new types previously unknown in Yugoslavia, which ha`T::
been supplieed from the Soviet Union.
2. It appears from orders which have been issued by the Yugoslav NF,-.y
that Yugoslavia has jurisdiction over the Albanian coast and coastal
waters.
3. A reinforced battalion of Naval Coastal Infantry has been moved
iron fo;ca l otors&--a to Valona. Coastal. Infantry units are to ?ze
employed chiefly in the handling of special weapons > tsch as coaz.al
torpedoes and rockets.
