International Slav Committee,, anti-Soviet in character. At this first
meeting, various ideas and opinions were exchanrg,ed.
2. One of the principal backers of the new organization is Padre Bias Steefanic,
a Croatian priest, who is active in assisting Croatian inmigrs-its in Buenos
Aires. It is said that the Argentine Ixunigration 3oard is al. ~ sponsoring
the formation of the committee. The other indivi.&,a1s concerned. are all
anti-Communist nationalists who are hoping for the independenc:. of their
respective countries., and the majority of them are Catholic.
3. One of the duties to be carried out by the International Slav , Co ittee
would be to inform the Immigration Board on the political beliefs of Slav
inrr-igrants, thereby preventing the entrance of Communist agents? for it has
been noticed that the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, particularly, has been
attearpting to send its agents to Argentina under the guise of anti-Communist
Slav or Italian refupess.
4. Another meeting is planned to draw up the table of organizatio.-_ for the
projected committee.
