On 9 October 1947, a good will mission headed by General Fiallc, Minister of War and Chief of Staff, Dominican Army, left Ciudad Trujillo for a courtesy visit to Haiti. The trip was made in a B-17 plane armed with eight 50mm guns and equipped with bomb sights. The plane left Port-au-Prince ostensibly to go to Miami, Florida, but it is rumored the plane went from Port-au-Prince to reconnoiter the coast of Cubat and did not return to Ciudad Trujillo until late at night on 9 October 1947 The plane was piloted by George Phillips, a former US Wavy pilot., who is employed in the Dominican Army as a fly; instructor. 25X1 X6 3.
