1. On 9 October 1947, a good will mission headed by General Fiallc, Minister of
War and Chief of Staff, Dominican Army, left Ciudad Trujillo for a courtesy
visit to Haiti. The trip was made in a B-17 plane armed with eight 50mm
guns and equipped with bomb sights. The plane left Port-au-Prince ostensibly
to go to Miami, Florida, but it is rumored the plane went from Port-au-Prince
to reconnoiter the coast of Cubat and did not return to Ciudad Trujillo until
late at night on 9 October 1947
The plane was piloted by George Phillips, a former US Wavy pilot., who is employed
in the Dominican Army as a fly; instructor. 25X1 X6
3. In connection with the trip of the B-17m the Dominican
Government has learned that attempts will be made to land arms and ammunition
from Venezuela and Cuba on the south coast of the Dominican Republic, between
Barahona and Azua,, and on the north coast in the vicinity of Puerto Plata.
