SUPPLEMENT
1? Maneuvers were carried on in the area south of Szombathely, Hungary, during
the period from 23 July to 7 August 1947 by Soviet troops from Austria.

2., Two convoys left Baden, Austria, on 21 July.
Convoy A
Convoy B
3, These convoys arrived in Szombathely on 23 July. The vehicles in Convoy A
proceeded to the forest of Jak, midway between. Jak and Perinet, to the south of
Szombathely. The vehicles in Column B went to the gendarmerie barracks in
Szombathely.
In addition to the vehicles mentioned above, the following were observed in
the forest camp:
a jeep carrying a colonel wearing black epaulettes with red

5. Five thousand troops are estimated to have been involved in the maneuvers. These
troops were equipped with forty trucks and thirty cars, including jeeps.
6. For the period of the maneuvers, barrack huts were erected in the woods. Telephone
lines linked the camp in the forest to the headquarters in the gendarmerie barracks,
and a single-track rail line was run out to the maneuver area f: om Kisyonum
station, two kilometers away. A landing strip use put into active use and the
following aircraft were observed on it; three Fieseler Storchs, two twin-engined
monoplanes, and one Ju 52. AA defenses consisting of sixteen searchlights with
mobile generators and multiple machine guns were also set up.
7. Upon completion of the exercises, the convoys departed in the direction of Austria
and the entire camp was dismantled,
