SUPPLEMENT
1. Between 1 and 10 September 1947, labor offices in Potsdam, Falkensee, Hennigedorf,
and Hohenneuendarf conscripted some 20,,000 workers on SMA order. These people
have been engaged in erecting emergency troop quarters on the grounds of the
former Krampnitz Cavalry School (Z-64), and others have been constructing barracks
at the DDberitz (Z-65) training area. During mid-September Soviet motorized units
moved into repaired buildings at Krampnitz, including a motorized regiment with a
detachment of multiple 'rocket launchers.

3. As of 1 October, there were sixteen dismantling brigades in the Russian Zone
under the command of Genmaior Reiss who, as "industrial executive", is based

4o The dismantling brigades consist chiefly of German, with some Russian, workers.
Brigade leade. a are Soviet officers. All workers are under strict military
discipline and must observe duty schedules, hours, and roll calls; they are
required to salute Russian superiors. Punishment for infractions is applied
as in military units. Members of the brigades are forbidder, to have any re-
lations with the German population except in line of duty.
5. Four of the brigades were formed in mid August 1947. These, presently inactive,,
are stationed on the grounds of the former Luftwaffe ammunition plant at Zinna
