SUPPLEMENT
1. Out of seven members of a communist printers cell arrested by the P.I.D.E.
in August and September 1947 in Coimbra, three are reported to ha e- been
also active sembers of the LU .1).. (MoviMento de Unidade Democratic e).
2. Manuel Augusto Rodrigues, who cohtrolled the cell, was arrested on
9 September.
3? Adelino Borges, with cover-name "Viegas", a printer employed by the 'Gazeta
de Coimbra", was arrested on 12 September. Beside being assistant to
Rodrigues in the communist cell, Borges was a member of the WorkmeOs
Commission of the M.U.D. and a delegate from that commission to th! Coimbra
District Committee of the M.U.D. He is twenty-eight years old, usmarried?
and a resident of Coimbra. ,
4. Joao Damasceno Albuquerque, who worked as a printer at the Casa Ileerva,
Estrada de Beira, Coimbra, was arrested on 16 September. He beloneed to
the same communist cell and, like Adelino Borges, was a delegate oT the
'Workmen's Commission of the M.U.D. He is twenty-eight years of age, single,
born in Coimbra and still resident there.

Andrade is described as twenty-five years old unmarried,
y profession a bookbinder employed in the Liviiria Atlantidel
Rua Ferreira Borges, Coimbra. One of the present charges against nl,drade
is that he gave shelter to Atlantide dos Reis Ambrosio (former member of
the Communist Party Local Committee for Lisbon) when the latter wal being
actively sought by the police. Andrade is also charged with having at one
time held at his house, Rua das Flores 13, illegal meetings which were
attended by Dr. Albano Rodrigues da Cunha and JORTAM Roque de Fre. tas (both
mentioned in these meetings were allegedly held at the eepress 25X1A2g
orders of Agostinho de Conceicao Saboga, head of the Communist Parly's Local
Committee for Coimbra.
