to All state governments in the Soviet zone of Germany were approached
over two months ago by Derunapht AG, which desired to purchase the
assts of the Benzin-Benzol-Vertrieb (BV) which had become state
property.
2. The sale has already become effective in Mecklenb- rg. The state of
Thuringia rejected the offer, with the result tha,: its fuel ration
has suffered a considerable cut; the pressure applied may force
Thuringia to revise its decision.
3. Negotiations are still under way with the state ge--vernments of
Brandenburg, Saxony, and Saxony--Anhaltw There is every likelihood
that Brandenburg will accede to the demands of Derunapht AG. The
governments of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, on the other hand, have
f latlr refused to sell their BV property, es, point ng out that.,
according to a ruling of the Control Council of 2t:', September 1945
(article 5,, para. 14c), no German assets whatsoevrer may pass into
foreign hands unless the transfer has been previously approved by
the Control Council.
