It is reported that excellent results were obtained by the ?-xew oil
drilling at Lipcse. The drilling material is reported to hE '5?0X1- ri -
sent from Yugoslavia by the Russians. HUM

The nevi drillings are made in the following way. At the points
where the trial drillings give encouraging results, tubes a-e
floated into the ground. By means of short wave gauges the depths
of the oil, layers are measured. Explosives are then lowere l into
the tube and, detonated at the deepest layer.. The tube is perfor-
ated by the explosion and the ail rises to the surface. The next
