PAGES SUPPLEMENT LIST. 3 October 191L7, two Paraguayan officials were granted an interview with President Peron, who discussed his plans for aiding Paraguay as well as many other subjects. The Paraguayan officials were Mario Ferrario, newly-appointed Chief of Police in Asuncion and former Secretary to the President of Paraguay,, and Auguste Fuster, a secretary of the Paraguayan Embassy in Buenos Aires, Peron is said to have spoken to these men frankly., for Fuster is co nonly regarded to be of Peronista sym - pathies, and the close association of Mario Ferrario with the Argentines is well-known. 2. Peron said., in speaking of his plans for Paraguayan aid, that he though the internal politics of Paraguay should be put on a more settled basis for the well being of that country. Be spoke of his decision to give economic aid to Bolivia as well, and is said to have stated that the countries of southern South America should aid each other economically in order to protect their sovereignties. (Fuster reportedly understood Peron to be referring to the danger from North American imperialism.) Peron added that Uruguay would necessarily have to form a part of this economic 'mentendimiento," but that nothing could be done with the Brazilians. who considered their country the greatest power in the world. 25X1 X6 eron spoke of the prosperous situation in which Argentina rinds erse. o ay and of her future economic possibilities. Be stated that Argentina is now independent. and does' not need the help of anyone, and that within two years Argentina will be in a position to export machinery and possibly even automobiles, He cited the fact that a certain United States mission had offered to pay.for a purchase of grain with machinery,, which Argentina did not need. He is also reported to have said that it is necessary to be careful in dealing with such missions for they generally hide political objectives. Concerning the question of Communis he Argentine President as saying that.very soo, perhaps after the' return of the Argentine Ambassador to Washington., he willl begin taking measures against Communists.
