The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce m, gard professional industrial training as vital in rresent-day conditions in Poland. During the past three years the Ministry,' Industry and Trade has set up more than 500 industrial schools which are claimed to be rya product of a cultural revolution and a tyro best suited to the interests of the corking class". These schools Includes 425 three-year schools and gymnasia 26 lyceums 50 industrial preparatory schools (SPP), exclusively for peasant youth. (See next paragraph. ) 4 technical schools a. These schools, attached to some i-portent industrial centers in Cen- tral Poland, were started in the spring of 1947. Their function is to train some 25,000 pleasant boys and girls between the ages of 1% and 19 for industrial work. The schools are exclusively for children of smallholders, agricultural laborers, and the like, who would other- wise have no chance for any professional training. b.
