THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION FOR THE RESEARCH
USE OF TRAINED INTELLIGENCE, ANALYSTS
Junior Assistant Soviet Military Attache, Captain I. D. Tarasov, has been
appointed chief of the "Mobilisation Section" of the Shanghai Soviet Consulate.
2. The Shanghai Soviet Consulate bas informed 42 Soviet eitisens, who were born in
1926 or 192?, that they are scheduled to go to the USSR in August 1948 for coml.
pulsory military training. These persons have been requested (1) to submit to
a special medical ezamination at the Soviet Citisens' Polyclinic at 918 Avemie
Joffre, Shanghai, to see if they are ptWeicalIy fit for military service; and
(2) to.take special pre-selective service courses, which will be directed by
Captain Tarasov, at the Soviet Club, 50 Route Pershing, Shanghai.
3. All Soviet citissus in the Shsngb,a1.Aankiag area who are unfit for military
service Will have to pay a "military tazx. All those who complete their mil-
itary duty in the USSR will have a right to return to Chins.
