The soviet 57th Guards Rifle Division, now about sevent r percent r otorized,
mired on 7 - 8 i cy 1948 by rail to Eisenach (H76) - flea hters tAdt (H96) -- .
;::attelsthdt (H86) area. This was similar to the last -ove of the division,,
with the exception that eight CU--152a were loaded with the rifle companies
in ;Taumburg (J859). and not with the self propol]ed ;.nun unit in 'Jeiscenfels
(399), which loaded them: aoparately. - -
2. The self--.;repelled gun unit at :leissenfels mo loaded as follows:
P.. seven troops,, each of seven ! '-U -152a and 6-8 trucks. ;'.t.ch troop tins
loaded reparatcly.
b. Two CU-152s ,ri' h heavy : achine gun instead of a gun and, in addition,
a star aerial (Cternanteniza),
c. Five KV45s without nun. These were covered, and no fiurther details
could be seer..
d. A number of jeeps and eight 113 weapons carriers.
3. A total of eighteen 5 rm and thirt,-two 57 r. anti-tank ;.nuns were observed .
loading. The artillery regiment, appoared to have four batteries of 76 mm
guns and one battery of 122 r.m hmrit^ers (three troops).
4. The sapper unit and. bri& ging> column of the division was scheduled to be
transported to the Eicenach area- on 10 - 11 May l9/, .
5. Infantry train?n of the division, up to regimental scale, has co resisted
entirely of attach training, with heavy support fire from mortars, machine
wns, and anti-tank ; suns.
