According to Adelson CHA,IiLIER, the administrative director of the Boraine
Federation, this Federation, was required by the Central Comnit'tee of the
Belgia-:.i Communist Party to recruit two thousand new members and to sell
three thousand shares of stock in the contemplated Cor nunist press build-
ing. Between February 1948 and the and of July 11946, however, only 710
new members were recruited and only one thousand shares of stock were sold.
Many members of the Federation are rejoining the Socialist Party and it is
reported that, at this rate, the number of effective members will soon be
only one third of the number available in 19 4 .
