On or about 18 July 1948 the China Vegetable Oil Corporation, a semi.-government
monopoly, notified various exporters of tung oil and other vegetable oii
products connected with the corporation to move their stocks immediately from
Chungking, Ichang (111-17F30-42), Hankow and other upriver Yangtze ports$ to
Shanghai. The notification stated that the corporation feels that the National
Government can no longer be assured of control of the river.
