l.~ Tony Wen, a former collabor ttor, is making a great effort to gain as high
a position as possible. in he Comm nist Party in the shortest time. He
maintains cordial. relations; writh Alindn and Amir Sjarifoedin. Won is one of
the leaders of the "Intern tional Brigade" i.n the Republican territory.
2. Tony Men often accomrpanieie time plane which maintains Republican contact w-i th
Singora. The plane used on these operations is a Catalan without ammphibious
landing equipmsnt, The object of its flights as the transport of opiuum fro m
the Republic to the outside world to :increase the Republic's econoriri.c strength.
The opium is packed in cmy3pe rubber. plane flies direct from Java to a
place at sea not far fro i_ Singapore, arriving early in the evening. Time cargo
is transferred to a small boat, after nth i.ch the journey to Singora is continued
by tie plane. The plane riturns to Java after hav~sng loaded in Singor?a. A
cer~kain Boon is connect.l w:i th the sale of the opium after it has been smuggled

A total of taro tons of npium have already beon floron to Singapore. 'ihe Republic
still has 13 tons of o3;.um of high qutality for export, One kilo of opium
brings 16 United Stat,e dollars; 1S tons of opium would thus represent ,
2L,OOO,OO'J'Straits dol.'.ars. Further shipments of opium to Singapore are expected
in Jmuly .

was a group of nine adonesian students, and a few leaders of the Republ .can

on to Calcutta for the purpose of impr*oviing the relations of the Republic
