25X1A 1. Prince SUNG is believed to have been killed by the Chinese Commu-
nists. SUNG. head, o ingot League, was placed on trial by the Communists in
a public meeting by the natives of his home banner. The Communists recommended
that SUNG be executed and asked for a vote from the natives. A small group of
the natives stated publicly t'.'-.at SUNG had been a good man and that he should not
be executed. Shortly thereafter. these persons were arrested and another
meeting was held at which time none of the persons present dared to oppose the
Communists in their plane to execute Prince SUNG.
2. Approximately 1,000 troops under the command of SanJiehja'b are hidden in the
mountains between West Usumchin and Keshikten (Ching--peng) Banners. They have
no guns.

Comment. It is probable that Sanjiehjb is a common romanization for
Sanjaijap. -~. reporting the death of Sanjaijap in Chalantun by the
Chinese Communists.
3. About 800 lamas in the LaBIa Temple in West Usumchin Banner have consistently
opposed the Chinese Communists and claim they will fight therewith their bars
hands if necessary, since Communist policy is to break up lama temples.
4. The Chinese Communists have captured a large number of Japanese in the mountains
east of Lintung.

It i8 rumored that the Communists intend to complete the conquest of both East
and. West Usumchin Banners by August. There are the only banners still uncon-
quered in that area. About 100 families in West Usumchin are preparing to flee
or have already lefts
