the yard will be generated by a newl,-erected adjacent power station housing
two 3,500 KW turbines. One Ing. Schoning has been charged with the equip-
ping of the plant. It is estimated that the construction work will cost
approximately six million RM.
2. It has been officially stated that the Peenewerft will be used for the
fitting out of deep-sea fishing vessels of up to 75 tons burden. Accord-
ing to building plans, however, the yard will be capable of handling craft
displacing up to 250 tons. The Peens installation will be a so-called Volks-
werft, like the yard in 1)amgarten, the Tha]mannwerft in Brandenburg, and the
Volkswerft, iniNagfibbuyg The latter three yards will manufacture hulls for
the Peenewerft, which will in turn fit the completed hulls with Diesel en-
gines and launch the vessels. Seventy percent of the craft will be delivered
to the Russian authorities. Director of the Peenewerftwill be one Dipl. Ing.
Lamprecht of Rostock.

percent will be delivered to state-owned enterprises, and 5 percent will be

The Rhodewerft. Rostso
As of mid-August 1948, the Rhodewerft was launching one fishing cutter, every
week. Upon completion, the cutters are taken over by Soviet crews and moved
to the Kr8gerwerft at Warnem1nde, where they receive two coats of paint and
their identification numbers. They are then sailed, without proper sea trials,
for an eastern Baltic port.
In the near future the entire Rhodewerft will be moved further upstream to
facilitate communications. In August 1948 there was already a wooden shed
on the prospective site in which one minesweeper was under construction.
This minesweeper, the exact'replica of a German R-boat, should be ready for
trials imt@ cinb@'tde$.1948.
