1. The previously dismantled railroad line, Pritzwalk to Mayenburg (T91-T 93)
Is to be restored. Rails are to be supplied from the LUbtheen-1Jalliss stretch
(T22-T31), now being dismantled.
2. Negotiations are in progress for the Reichsbahn to acquire the privately owned
Brandenburgisehe Sthfstebahn, It is planned to improve the line between Beizig
and Neustadt/Dosse (7.30-Z18), thus providing another north-south route to
relieve traffic on the line Magdeburg-Stendal 1Yittenberge sckmrerin, as well as
on the Berlin-Stralsund line,, reducing present strain on the Berlin Ringo
:so New trackage is to be built to fill in the gap between Schwaan and Rostock
(O6O-061),, shortening the route between Berlin and the ports of Rostock and
lllarnesaflnde,
4a The Jfiterbog-Berlin line is to be double tracked again,
5, The Reichsbahn planned to lay 250 kilometers of new track and to improve 950
kilometers of the present right of way during 1949, The SIAD Transport
Division, however8 rejected all new construction and consented to the improve-
ment of only 500 kilometers.
6, During 19498 the Reichsbahn hopes to buy 46,9500 tons of steel rail and plates;
during 19509 69?000 tons,
7, Plans for 1950 call for the Reichsbahn to have 80,000 freight cars of all
types ; of this total, 13,500 will have to be new cars,
