The latest disorders and acts of violence eon fitted by the Movimiento
Nacionalista Revoliacion.^rio (1NNR), in an effort to embarrass the -present
Bolivian reitime, have been reported from the interior cities of Potosi, Sucre,
and Santa Cruz, and i% Cochabamba.
An example of the type of disorders being precipitated by AMNR members occurred
following a Party reunion in Cochabamba on 25 September 1948. Upon leaving the
meeting, the members indulged in a series of street fit)ts and stoned the home
of Dr. Humberto Cano Montano. Cochabamba Police Chief. Several of the PAIR
leaders were armed, and shots w-re exchanged between the police and the
rioters before order was restored,. No one was wounded by gunfire, but several
were In,jurel in the free-for-all which resulted. As a consequence of this
incident, the following Party members were detained by the ^oehabanmba police:
