1. The Partai Komunis Indornesia(PKI) at Fort de Kock has ordered all persons
between the years of 3.5 and 45 in the D janbi and Indragiri areas in Sumatra
to register. This registration, which is to begin 1 October 1948, is in
preparation for guerrilla activities which are to begin the early part of
1949-
2. Since August, small groups of the I3eroeang Nerah have been seen in the
area of Pasoeroean, 3angil, Pandakan and Porong in Java,.
3. There vas a rumor in Fort de Kock that the Communists planned to form
a Tentera Ierah Indonesj a. Le a result of this rumor the military police
are now (21 September) guardin.-- all buildings used by the PKI. A large
number of leaders and persons suspected of being leaders of the PKI in
Fort de Kock have been arrested.
A preparatory committee of the Front :`Jasional for Sumatra has been formed
in Fort de Kock .order the leadership of M.S. Xarim, who is chairman of
the PKI in Sumatra.

which is in contact with Communist headquarters in Indochina, Burma,, China,
Korea and the Indonesian i'Re,aublie.
