1. Angel Cofino, Secretary General of the anti-Communist Confederation de
Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) and the leader of the Comite Obrera National
Independiente (CONI), which organization has announced its intention to
set up an independent labor group, alle edly has excellent contact with
25X1A6a President Carlos Prio Socarras. Comment. Cofino was married recently
to the sister of Orlando Fuentes, who was subsequently named Secretary of
the Presidency.)
2. During his recent visit to the United States, Cofino talked with j&abor
officials in New York City. According to source, Cofino is Vice President
of an 'international labor group which has its headquarters in the United
s'tates'. Since the President of this labor organization, (fnu) Benton, recently
died, Cofino reportedly informed some of his friends that he may leave Cuba
to take up residence in the United States to handle the affairs of this union.
