1. Since the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB) no longer has legal status
in Brazil, its rambers have been instructed to infiltrate other political
entities. The purpose of this instruction is twofold: (a' to obtain
.information on the rarti5es, and (b) to be in a position to bargain with
then and gain political advantage when given parties are successful at
the polls.
Emphasis is being placed at present on the infiltration of the Partido
Trabalhistn Drasileira (PTD), wrdch at least partially satisfies the 25X1X6
Communists by claiming to be a party of the working class. 25X1X6
the PTB has a good chance to win the forthcoming presidential
election, here is some type of secret agreement between
Getulio Vargas, leader of the PTB, and Luiz Carlos Prestes, ecretary 25X1X6
General of the PCB.
3. In the State of Sao Paulo, State Deputy Porfirio da Paz, P Tri leader, has
openly courted the Communists. Ile has supported the cause of workers on
strike, even though the strikes had been initiated by the Communists,. For
example, during the recent strike of employees of the Companhia de Gaz
(Gas Company), the Deputy was the mouthpiece for the workers and was
partially successful in obtaining certain rights demanded by the latter.
