OF PAGESI 25X1A2g PLACE ACQUIRED DATE OF I NO. OF ENCLS. (USTEO BELOW) CIA LIBRARY SUPPLEMENT 5X1 A2 25X1 A6a REPORT NO. g 1. Luis Jin Gonzalez,, who was reported into be traveling from . 25X1 X6 Argentina to Bolivia on a mission for ictor .Paz Estenssoro, exiled Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR) leader, reached Bolivia on 16 October by train. Gonzalez was met by a chauffeur-driven station 25X1A2g wagon when the International train, on which he was riding, made a short stop on the Alto before it reached La Paz. 2. Gonzalez did not report to either the Immigration authorities or the Police, as is customary for all foreigners arriving in Bolivia. A check of police records, however, revealed that the station wagon which met him belongs to, Jaime Rosenbaum, a wealthy German merchant in La Paz. Rosenbaum is the owner of a finca in a suburb of La Paz, where Gonzalez stayed until the first part of November. At that time, Gonzalez moved to the home of (fnu) Videla in Obrajes, which is about 5 kilometers from La Paz. 3. Gonzalez has been largely inactive since his arrival in Bolivia, because of the present Government campaign againstMNR leaders and sympathizers, and because of the state of siege. He has, however, been in contact with MNR. Deputy Edgar Nunez Vela and with Major Alberto Taborga. Both of these FANR leaders have insinuated to commando members of the Party that instruc- tions have been received from Buenos Aires to continue the campaign against the Government and to await further instructions from that end. Train records reveal that Gonzalez was authorized entry into Bolivia under Visa No. 2007, issued in Buenos Aires, and that he is traveling on Para- guayan Passport No. 177. His profession is listed as newspaper reporter, and he stated that his purpose in caning to Bolivia was to report on the Four Hundredth Anniversary Celebration of La Paz. He was not seen at any of the press meetings, civic group meetings, or social functions recently held for the anniversary celebration officials. The Paraguayan Embassy re-- ported that it was not aware of his presence in Bolivia.
