USE OF TRAINED INTELLIGENCE ANALYSTS Airfields and Troops at Pus in && 1948 1.. There are two airfields, separated by about 300 meters, at Pu:ah1cin, '23 km. from Leningrad on the main Leningrad-Warsaw railway. Both airfields were equipped fairly recently, the smaller for training purposes, thelarger for fighter planes. The latter is quite modern, with two searchlight towers and electric lighting along the runways. There was a considerable number of fighter aircraft on the field between l and 6 July 1948. They were of modern types, principally and possibly exclusively YAKS. On the smaller training airfield, there were some 30 aircraft. Near the training-airfield there is a pilots' training school with about 200 trainees. The officers and NCOs are commanded by Lieut. Col. Mar hovine who is also commandant of the school and the training airfield. There are two two-storied brick buildings, four large hate, and a large hangar with repair workshop on the training field. Close to the large fighter airfield, there are four large hangars and eight large huts. One of these huts houses the headquarters of the airfield and also headquarters of a fighter unit. Living quarters for the flying personnel are in the town of Pushkin. The fighter airfield is well guarded and one cannot approach without giving one's reasons to the sentries.
