Tangerang, Java, branch, is predominantly Federalist and pro-Dutch, 90 per-
cent of its twelve hundred members being of this persuasion. Its officers,

4., Panitya Pembelah Kepentingan Masjarakat (Con.ittee for the Defense of Social
Rights), a new association claiming to promote social good, has been organ-
ized at Semarang, Java, with the following persons on the council:

The Dersatoean Politiek Tionghoa (Chinese Political Union), a Federalist
and pro-American organization led by TRIO Oen ,ik, has set up a movement
at Soerabaja in opposition to the Partai Tionghoa Indonesia of Dr. TJQA
Sisk In, a local-born, pro-Indonesian Chinese physician with a German wife,
who was recently a delegate of the Indonesian Republic at Lake Success. The
name of TJIA Tik Sing is mentioned as the "would-be" chairman of the Per-
satoean Politiek Tionghoa.

at Padang, Sumatra, with Achmad Zaini as chairman.
8. The Sin.Sheng Sze (Now Voice Circle) of Tjideoeng West, Batavia Centrum, is
an offshoot of the left wing of the Kuomintang. Tt maintains its m n
school, the Hip To School, at Toko Tiga 53, Batavia. There practical
Communism is taught along with history and Chinese.
9. The Dayak aborigines are loyal to the Dutch. They have formed a political
party called the Dayak Besar at Pontianak. The purpose of the party is
to support the Dutch and the Federalists.
