1. Para-Wilitary Ar nization in the City of Re' o Emilia,; Leadershi and Ci
NEGF-a. The city Reggio Emilia has been divided by the I into the
following six sectors.
a. Sector I. outlined by Via Emilia Santo Stefano, Vials Timavo, to the
intersection of Piazza Duca d'Aosta, Piazza 9renone, Via Panciroli,
Via Guido da Castello, to the intersection with Via Dnilia S. Stefano;
b. Sector II outlined by Via 1!nil.ia, Via Guido da Castello, Via Panciroli,
Porta Br e. Vials Timavo, Piazzale Diaz, Via Ariosto, Largo XXIV
MMvaggio, Piazza Fontanesi, Via San Carlo, Via Ibachi, and Via Cuidelli to
its intersection with Via FFmi.lie;
c. Sector III, outlined by Via Emilia San Pietro, Via Guidelli, Via Toschi,
Via San Carlo, Piazza Fontanesi, Largo XXIV Maggio, Via Ariosto, Piazzale
Diaz, Vials dei Mills, land Piazza Tricolore to its intersection with Via
E'nilia San Pietro;
d. Sector IV, outlined by Via Fni.lia San Pietro, Piazza Tricolors, Vials
ave, Piazza Duca degli.Abruzzi, Ind Via Roma to its intersection with
Via Ilnilia Safi Pietro;
e. Sector V. outlined by Via Rona, Via Duca degli Abruzzi, Vials Isonzo,
Vials A legri, Via Monzermone to its intersection with Via Roma; and
f. Sector VI, outlined by Via Monsermone,'Vials Allegri, Vials Isonzo,
!Uzza Duca d'Aasta, and Via * liaSanto Stefano to its intersection
with Via Monsermone.
2. The Military headquarters are located as'followss
a. Central Headquarters are in Sector II in the municipal building where the
Municipal Policy eadquarters are now.

Comment. GAP may stand for either Gruppi Azione Partigian& ar san

3. Each sector has its own military headquarters. These are located as follows:
a.
Sector I, (htestura Building on Corso Garibaldi;
b.
Sector II, offices of the Timo concern on Via Prevostura;
c.
Sector III, offices of the Ente Mutualitk on Via Fontanelli;
d.
Sector IV, the Communist cell of S. Croce Cittaa on Vicolo Venezia;
e.
Sector V, offices of the Provincial Cooperative Federation on Via
Sessi; and
f.
Sector VI, offices of the Federterra on Via Mazzini.
4. The sector commanders are:
a. Errors Silingardi, wa. Mario, Commander of Sector I, employed by the
Reggio Fbsilia Previdenza Socials (Social Welfare Office);
b. Bruno Veneziani, wa. Oscar, commander of Sector II, director of the
Reggio Emilia prisons since 25 April 1945.
c. Aldo Ferretti, wa. Tascanino, commander of Sector III, employed by the
local PCI Federation;
d. Spartaco Cocconcelli, wa. Demos, commander of Sector V, employed by the
local PCI Federation;
e. Reclue Malaguti, wa. Benassi, commander of Sector V, a prominent leaders
of the Reggio Emilia Chamber of Labor; and
f. Fausto Pattaccini, wa, Sintoni, commander of Sector VI, vice-secretary
of the Reggio Emilia provincial organization of the Aseociazione
Nazionale Partigiani a?Italia (ANPI)(National Association of Italian
Partisans) and secretary of the ANP1 organization for the city of Reggio
Emilia.

a. Didimo Ferrari, wa. Eros, commander for Reggio Emilia and secretary of
the ANPI organization for the city of Reggionilia;
b. Fausto Pattaccini (see paragraph 4)., commander of the GAP;
c. Spartaco Cocconcelli (see paragraph 4), commander of Saboteurs and

and armed with hand grenades and small automatic weapons. They are organized
as follows:
a. The Reggiani mechanical shops, 3,000 men organized in Assault Unite and
Workers Battalions;
b~ The Lombardini mechanical shops, 200 men organized in the "FirstAction"
Squads;
C. GAP, 150 men; and
d. Eliminators and Saboteurs, 100 men.
7. The Communist plan for the occupation of the city of .2eggio Dnilia also
includes the zone of Castellarano, Casalgrande, Sassuolo, and Fiorano which
lies between the towns of Reggio and Loden. This zone has a Communist
brigade called Costrignano. It has a strength of 300 men armed with hand
grenades and small automatic arms. This brigade is autonomous. It is com-
manded by %Ialdo lagnani who is substituting for Domenico Braglia, known as
"Piccolo Padre", who is in hiding because there is a warrant for his arrest.
81 Action groups are being organized on the outskirts of the city. Their
strength is estimated to be about 150 men each. They are under the command
of the men listed below, who, in turn, are responsible to Didimo Ferrari,

9. The other towns of the province of Reggio Emilia are also organized rnil.itarily.
They are, however, not included in the above outline. There is a note added
on to the military plan of the city of Reggio Emilia which states specifically
that for each of the other cities of the province the PCI has drawn up an
individual plan of action designed for the occupation and garrisoning of each

city by the local Communist forces. `Phis, note further states that, in case
of emergency, all logistic services for the city and province of Reggio Emilia
must be directed by Mario Ferrari, wa. Marius, former partisan comm nder, who
is now employed by a trucking cooperative.
10. It is reported that there are large stores of gasoline hidden in. the Reggiane
plant. The arms were formerly hidden in air raid shelters. After the April
elections they were removed to hiding places in the mountains.
