The Steam Porrar-Plant in Velen je is on the S ostan j .Velen yo-C?l je highway
(precf,se location, 46022920" V 15?615"E), about 1,200 yards from the
Volenjo railroad station on the Ce1je-Dravocrad line. The rain building,
size 100 x 50 x 12 ra. , is of reinforced concrete with a flat tin roof and
contains the boiler room, turbine room, control room, transformers q and
the offices. The building has large windows an all sides. Capacity of
the pager-plant is 7,200 low. It consists of three units of which dine has
a power output of 6,000 key, and the other two of 1,100 kw each. 'I'ii steam
turbine,, which operates with a pressure of 16 to 42 atmospheres, ii on the
sate axle with the generator and the exciter. The combined units operate
normally at a speed of 3,000 revolutions per minute.:.
Near the tower-plant there is a tower, 25 m. high, which serves for con-
densation and cooling of water. Steam, piped from the turbine,, is con-
densed into water and cooled in the toyer. :Dater no obtained is then piped
back into tho boiler. On the opposite aide of the T:tain. building there is
an open-air distributing station with 60 and 110 kV open-air distributing
devices. The power-plant receives Its coal from the brown coal nlno in
Volenje, located behind the povtor. plant.. Coal is moved into the elarkt: b v
mans of small box cars which can operate on the plant's narrow-gaum track"
Lubricants are obtained' from State petroleum enterprises in Ljubljana*
2a The power-plant receives 100 kV from the hydro-electric plant in 1)ravograd.
This voltage is stopped down to 60 kV by a 16,000 kw transformer. The
maxim in intake of. electricity from Dravotgrad is limited to the capacity of
this transformer, i.e. 16,000 'saw From Velenje, a 60 kV line runs -i:o a
relay station in Podlog, near St. Peter, in the Savinjaka Dolina. Another
20 kV' lino runs 'to Gustaxt j and Nezioa. The Gustan j Iron Works and the
Moziea mines are thereby supplied with energy from the power plants in
Velenje and Dravograd.
A 110 kV line, Velenje-rtariborski Otck (new hydro-electric plant j and a
110 kV line, Velor,jo-Lasko, are in the planning stage,
