1. Source reports what he believes to be the first specific description of the
role played by Francisco Grano at the time of his murder, and gives the
)5X1A6a GranaPs assassination as stated by Juan Pardo Althaus.
Grana was killed 7 January 1947 by an employee of the
organ, JA Tuna, and the police considered the murder a political
incident between two factions. Juan Pardo Aithaus was a relative of Grana's.)
2. Pardo stated that Grano was handling substantial funds that had been collected
to back any political party that appeared capable of opposing APRA at that time,
when the Aprista influence in the Government of Peru reached its peak. Grans
acted as the financial clearing house for this activity, and occupied a key
position.
3. Pardo admitted that the assassins "got the right man" when they eliminated
Grans. Pardo added that when Pedro Beltran was asked to take over Grana'a
position after the latter's assassination, he declined. He did not actively
enter the picture until some months later in conjunction with the organization
of the Alianza Nacional. Instead, Pardo stated that he himself took over some
of Grafaes responsibilities, working with a small group of others whose names
he did not mention.
