CD NO. 25X1A2g SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. 1. The Tentera Nasional Indonesia (TNI) 4 Division under Colonel Soengkono is believed to be putting up strong resistance against the Dutch 10 Brigade which is moving south from. Malang to Kepandjen and Bliter. 2. Dutch troops are withdrawing to Solo from Jogjakarta, Bojolali, Klaten and Poerwodadi. 3. Soetomo is trying to reorganise his Barisan Pemberontakan Rakjat Indonesia at Solo, but many of his men are so poorly clad and armed that it is doubtful if they will be of tactical value against the Dutch. 4. The TNI staff at Solo was planning. to set up headquarters at Madioen,. Later reports indicate that the TNT became demoralized and was preparing to retreat 25X1A6a and Solo, possibly burning both towns before leaving. Comment. Press reports have now reported the fall of solo to 5. Neither side is'quoting casualties, but the number is believed to be high. Mortars and artillery are chiefly being used. To date there hasL been no hand to hand fighting. There has been considerable hit and run distance rifle shooting. 6. Wills, around Ngawi, and various areas in southern Kedoe. They are hostile to both the TNI and the Dutch. Their total armed strength is estimated at 5,750 men. In Sumatra in the Fort de Kock area,Dutch troops have reached Singkarak on route to Fort van der Capellen, where the TNI brigade guarding the entrance to Fort de Kock and Padangpandjang is based. 11. The Dutch are now mobilising all available able-bodied local Dutch and Eurasians. Disabled men are being called to do administrative work in the Military Bureau 12.
