1. Most of the factories on Taiwan are working on very limited capital, and as
profits are made they are being utilized for reconstruction and expansion or
conversion of the plants.
2. A fertilizer factory at Kaohsiung has a capacity of 30,000 tons of phosphate
per year. The aluminum plant at Kaohsiung is working at half capacity and
is producing 4,000 tons per year of aluminum in ingot form. one plant of the
Taiwan alkali 'ompany in Taiwan produces 4,000 tons of caustic soda per year
with relative production of hydrochloric acid, liquid chl rine, potassium
chlorate, bleaching powder and soda ash.
