COUNTRY Germany, Berlin SUBJECT Reichabahn Operational Report t October 1948 % PLACE 25X1A 25X1A6a 25X1A2g 25X1 C SOURCE The information below was extracted from the, October operational reports of the various Relchsbahndirektionen. The report for RBD Dresden was not available. 1. A serious shortage of railroad cars, particularly open cars, was re port,d by all Reichsbahndirektionen for the month of October 1948. The shipment of important quantities of finished products was de. layed, since priority had to be given to the potato and beet harvest. In Berlin, the situation was aggravated by the fact that the by- passing of the western sectors increased the. circulation period of cars, and that, under present circuumstances,, cars destined for the western sectors remain in Berlin stations longer than usual. 2.
