The Air Force unite in Sicamtkia are organised in the so-called Third Air
?g?Aroat which is subordinate to the Fourth Military District. (There
are throe Air Force Areas in Csechoilomecia with their respective Head-
quarters located as fellows: First Prams Second - 3rno, Third -
Bratislava.) The Third Air Force Area comrri:es the 4th Air Division (HQ
located at Trenain), several air bases, firing ranges, la:rehouses, service
Unite, and the Air Force Training Center at Biskupioe. (Commander of the
Fourth Xilitary District is Oenoral Since,a notorious aleoholis and a
Communist* who has no Judgment of his own and no military of politica
knowledge.)

from Prostejov, who, in turn, was replaced by ltaff Captain Rudolf

=inlet Party in 1945 so as to be accepted into the newly formed Czecho-
slovak Army.

married, about 42 years of age. The mobilization plan was completed
by Staff Captain lmriohVyvostko, Slovak, born in eastern Slovakia
(Berea near Kosice); Vyvostko is anti-Communist, a brave man, married.

Polish origin and at one time claimed to be a German. Lisicky is
of brutal charactar. (There have be-ant/nay personnel changes recently.
qhen the Fourth Air Force District parallel to the Fourth Military
District/ was reduced to cadre strength and its duties were taken over
by the Third Air Force Area, some of its officers were transferred to
the Fourth Air Division at Trencin.)
b. The Fourth Air Division comprises the following subordinate units:
1) First Air Apaiment, called nvolensky" (after the town of Zvolen),
stationed at Tri Duby:
Commanding Officers Colonel Ludovit Kona, Slovak, a fanatical
Blink: Guard member during the period of the Slovak State, now
a fanatical Communist; slow in grasping ideas; is at present in
Moscow. Staff Captain Ladislav Stasik now probably acts as Kozals
deputy. Stasik is not interested in politics and is not enthusiastic
about Communism.

politically; served with the let Czechoslovak Army Corps in Russia
during the war. The Russians had samethin5 against him and wanted
to arrest him (details not. known to Source).

some difficulties because during the war he had commanded a Slovak
squadron which fought on the German side against the Russians; is
nervous and does not feel secure in his position.
a) The First and Second Air Regiments are equipped with airplanes
of the 2-LA-7 and 5-LA-7 types that ware used on the Eastern
Front towards the end of the Oar. Each Regiment had about 32'
aircraft; Source is not informed as to the present number but
states that many of the planes needed repair.
The 30th Regiment had about 36 airplanes of the JL-2 type which
were also used on the Eastern Front during the war. These planes,
too, needed repair as their fuselage is male partly of wood (and
partly of metal) which, exposed to weather, has low durability.

Lisicky; not enthusiastic about Communism.
(1) The 44th (or 43rd) Air Regiment is being built as a recon-
naissance unit and equirped with Storks and Siebels.

Additional meteorological stations are located at Telgart and Lomnicky
Stit (mountain in the Tatra Mountains).
0. With the exception of Malacky, which has one runway (60 hy approximately
1,000 meters), the above mentioned airfields have no rummy's. Dakotas
(DC-3) and Messerschmidts can land an all Slovak airfields.
