SUPPLEMENT TO
1. Colonel Ponchardier in January 1949 stated that according to information he
had received he had gainel the impreselen that the Service dlOrdre would be
disbanded in June or July of 1949. Ho stated further that plane for de-
mobilization were to be made irrediately, althowt such plane might not be
carried out until 1950.

2. In December 1948, Ponchardier instructed the Service diOrdre units-to be
"rrudent in their activities". Traffic in arta, transport of arm, milit-
ary instruction within official Iroups (a.1. pre-cilitary instruction
centers) is prohibited. Mnbillicence activities rithin the Service d'Ordre
ras also discontinued. (Ponchardier added that a fen completely dependabl,

4. An auxiliary group, similar to the Service d'Ordre, called the Service
d'Ordre d'ArTui (SOA) was created in the Paris nalion in november 1901.
This croup is composed of elementa-formerlybeld in reserve and has
absorbed some of the elements formerly in the Detachments Anti-Communistes
(DAC). Rventually the SOA rill be completely Incorporated into the SO,
accordinr to Ponchardier.

Instracted to watch Padovanis Assistant Chia of the Administrattve
Services. Ponchardier stated that Padovani is egotistic, ambitious and
opportunistic. Ponchardier stated that Padovani should be kept at an
administrative level and should not be allowed to interfere in matters dealing
with sector or command assignments.

in charge of propaLanda. This group is very critical of the political '
otand taken by the RPF? citing as an example the Oonseil de la Depnblique,
where of theL0 members elected on the RPF tickets only 50 are loyal to the
Party.
10. Colonel Remy is theonly member of the RPF who is cited as favoring legal
moans to bring de Gaulle to power. With a few exceptions, this difference
in point of view is reported to place the Rational Directorate in opposition
to the Paris Region Directorate.
