1. The Committee of Central and eastern 'urope, an anti-Com.^aunist organization
in Buenos Aires (cf s had planned to hold a meeting on 30 January
1949 in order to elect a new president in view of Yiroslaw Arciszewskits
resignation as the organiza.tionrs first president.. however, the Federal
Police refused to grant permission for holding the proposed meeting until
the Corr itteets activities and purpose could be investigated by the police
authorities.
2. The majority of Polish anti-Communist immigrants in Argentina objected to
Arciszewski as president of the Committee, They -r Iterated the charges
that his wife is Russian and that he is in frequent contact with the
Soviet nbassy in Buenos 'sires and with Cominform supporters, As a result
of this feeling of dissatisfaction in-the anti-Communist Polish colony
and because of its loss of confidence in shim, 1rciszewski was obliged to
resign. It is believed that either 31.Iilan Sto'adinovic, former Yugoslav
Prime Minister, or Alexander Tsankov (Zankoff), former Bulgarian Prime
Minister? will succeed l rciszewski*
