THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
the Alban~Zlitary command of Argyrokastrorr has
strengthened the frontier guard units in the Fogoni area, especially in
the villages of Tsiatista, Chlomo, S6pik and Pol.itsa, which are near the
border. The strength of the soldiers in all these villages now totals
250, while before it used to be l5Oa
2. The Albanian Government has called up eight age groups, those born during
the years 1920-28; they were to present the=61ves between 20 January and
25 January 1949. 3. Those serving in the Albanian Army have been told not to request leave
for a period of one year because of the extraordinary military requirements.
)o During the past month the Government has distributed proclamations
throughout Albania, calling on the guerrillas and political refugees to
surrender by 15 March 1949. Those giving themselves up would be judged
with clemency. There are 195 political criminals who will benefit by this
measure as the rest of their sentence has been remitted.
