Anarilio Vasconaelloa, rational Treasurer of the Commumiot Party of Brasil
(PCB), met with the 9 do Margo 0011 on 5 March 1949 which handles all the
publicity enterprises of the PCB. He urged the cell members to make prQater
efforts to raise money for the Party by strengthening the "afrctee of friends"
and other money-rising enterprises. He said th

150,000 oruaeiros a month for rnaintenan'e of the party publicity enterprises
and support of the leaders who are in hiding. The cell was to be responsible
for raising 15,000 cruseiros.
2. After the meting with Vasooncellos, the cell held meetings of its various
sections and pointed out that the PCB financial situation was very serious. It
even suggested that do Povo, a newspaper th-t was not considered to be
presenting the Party line very well, be eliminated for the sake of economy.
All members of PCB publicity enterprises were instructed to consider the
financial situation carefully and w^re threatened with losing their positions
if they slid not do so.
3. Officers of A Classe 0nararii, PCB newspaper, made tentative plans for a
financial cammaiga, but are awaiting the approval of Diogenes de Arruda Camara,
who is reported to be the real chief of aublicity for the Party and who main-
tains contacts with the highest echelons of the Party.
