l~ Prior to his departure for Cuba on 14 April en route to the Paris Peace
Congress, Dioni_sio Encina, Secretary General of the Mexican Communist
Party, announced that he intended to accept an invitation to visit Moscow
upon the close of the Congress.
20 Encina's passage from Cuba to trance had been arranged for him, but his
passage from Mexico to Cuba was a'serious problem for the Party members
until 11 April when Encino, Diego Rivera, Ladislao Carbajal, and David
Alfaro Siqueiros visited Lombardo Toledano? After some discussion, Diego
Rivera agreed to furnish the 3000 pesos to get Encina to Cuba, and David
Alfaro Siqueiroa contributed 1500 pesos to help out the Communist Party
during the absence of Encino.
